Another great solution for our computer age!

Our computer age has developed an epidemic of imbalance in our culture.  Long hours of sitting in front of our computer and not enough balanced movement and exercise has created quite an avalanche of low back pain, sciatic pain, poor posture, upper back pain, neck pain, and headaches.

Commitment to yourself by utilizing our yoga and massage will keep you in a much more balanced state, as well as, free from pain.

Here's another great solution to affect your daily activity to keep you mobile, more balanced, and feeling great!

A treadmill desk!  This desk fits over your existing treadmill and you walk at a slow pace while you work on your computer or phone.

Here's a link:  http://www.trekdesk.com/

I've also seen sites that tell you how to make your own.

Here's a few benefits:
  • This keeps your circulation moving, so you are more oxygenated to feel more alert more of your day.
  • Because you are walking, your hip flexors (muscles that are in the front of your hips and deep in your abdomen) will be getting more extension and not staying closed down all the time from sitting.  This results in stronger core muscles (just from being moved and utilized, oxygenated, and keeping the energy flowing).
  • The hip flexors will remain longer and more flexible, so as not to pull your lumbar vertebrae forward to create low back pain.
  • You will will have a tendency to stand more upright with less slouching.  This is important for your diaphragm (your main breathing muscle).  More freedom and movement in your diaphragm, along with deep breaths, will keep you oxygenated and alert.  A tight diaphragm pulls your torso forward creating pain in between the shoulder blades, neck, and headaches.  A contracted diaphragm results in less oxygen to your brain that definitely effects your performance.
We have a friend that worked 8 hours a day in front of his computer with no exercise and does not eat well.  He has Diabetes that he takes insulin for.  He began using a treadmill desk for 4 hours a day.  That is the only thing he changed in his lifestyle.  In the first 2 months he lost 20 pounds and decreased his insulin intake by 33%.  I love that!  Our bodies want to move!

A treadmill desk is such a great tool to help you feel better.  You are never stuck!  There are so many great options for you to take control of how you feel.  Find what works for you!!!
