Yoga's for Anyone

"Yoga, as a way of life and a philosophy, can be practiced by anyone with inclination to undertake it, for yoga belongs to humanity as a whole. It is not the property of any one group or any one individual, but can be followed by any and all, in any corner of the globe, regardless of class, creed or religion."

- Sri K. Pattabhi Jois

Inspiration

"When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bounds: Your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction and you find yourself in a new, great and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive, and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be..."

- Patanjali

Practice Yoga

"The practice of asanas and pranayama is learning to control the body and the senses so the Inner light may come forth. That light is the same for the whole world and it is possible for man to experience this light, his own Self through correct Yoga practice. This is the natural outcome of a good practice and one will gradually learn to control the mind because one eventually will come to experience the very support of it. But the mind is indeed very difficult to control, but everything is made possible with right practice. We must therefore first and foremost practice, practice, practice for any real understanding of Yoga to take place. Then eventually we will be able to break the fixed patterns of the mind and taste the greater underlying support of it all.”
- Sri K. Pattabhi Jois

Shift It or Feel It, Either Way You Grow

Sometimes you need to shift your perspective by using an exercise that changes your mind because you are practicing a habit of thought that doesn't serve you.  And other times, you need to dive in and feel what's really bothering you.  i.e. - go to the source of your discomfort or pain (physically and/or emotionally) and feel it so you can then let it go or at least a piece of it.  - Shalan Hill

Let Yourself Be Adored

I just took a walk with my adorable dog, Kirby.  She is so easy to adore, as you can see.  We jogged for a bit to get my heart and my breath going.  I had been feeling a little overwhelmed with my current schedule and had been feeling a bit of pressure in my head and heart.  After my breath and heart rate got activated well, I started to walk again focusing on the engagement of my lower bandhas and allowing ease into my upper body.  As I started to soften my heart and mind, I became aware of "being adored".  As I walked, I really allowed myself to be adored by my guides and angels, i.e. I allowed the love of the Universe to flow into me.  As I held that vibration of allowing, I was aware that I was lining up with the resonance of Well-Being as I wasn't worried or overwhelmed anymore and there was no more pressure in my body.  It felt so good and am eager for more allowing!

I like to think that Love is all there is.  Unconditional Love is constantly pressing in on us.  It is solely up to us whether we allow it in or not.  We totally have the free will to resist it, or to allow it.  We can also think of Unconditional Love as our Well-Being.  We can resist our Well-Being or we can allow it in all varying degrees upon every subject in our lives.

Find what things help you to lessen your resistance to your Well-Being / Unconditional Love.  It feels so good when we let it in.  It doesn't matter what it is.  Just give yourself permission to feel better and even adored!

J'adore!

Being In Your Power

Shalan Hill of The Posture Project
So I'm constantly growing.  And, I'm always learning about myself.  And I've found an important piece of my puzzle for more satisfying moments to add to this grand life I'm living.  When I'm "in my power", my world and life are awesome!  I'm in the vortex (abraham-hicks reference)! I feel confident and appreciate all the good in my life.  I am in sync with the perspective of my Spirit or Source.

Sometimes I forget how amazing my life is.  Sometimes I allow thoughts and feelings of not being enough, of fear, of anger, of blame, and viewing others as not enough for my expectations, etc.  I can let myself get sucked into the drama of whatever I'm creating in that moment.  But, then at other times when I am feeling those things, I can remember that "I'm just not in my power."  When I'm not in my power, my perspective is skewed from my natural state of being or my Spirit's perspective.  I've allowed my focus to shift to more of what I don't want in my life.

When you feel like your life sucks, it just means you're not in your power.  You are not letting your spirit shine.  You are not allowing the truth of who you are to come to the surface, it is being covered by patterns of thought that aren't serving you.  In the realization that "I'm just not in my power", the majority of the time I can then change my perspective to get "in my power."  Sometimes it's as easy as a simple conversation with myself.  But, other times, I need some action to help me make the switch in my brain & body.

There are several things that I can do that almost always help me make this shift:

1.  Ashtanga Yoga - I can do 10 sun salutations (5 Namaskar A & 5 Namaskar B) to get my heart rate up and breath & body moving well together along with a focused mind and my brain shifts to "I'm strong and I've got a great life!"

2.  Walking / Running - I take at least a 2 mile walk every other day and I'm always conscious of my lower bandhas as I walk.  These walks are my meditations.  My brain shifts as I move, breathe and hold my core strength.  When I really need an extra boost, I add running to my walks.  I'll jog for 2-4 minutes, walk about 1-2 minutes, jog for 2-4 minutes, walk about 1-2 minutes.  It only takes about 15-20 minutes and my brain has shifted with my body to believe in my power and the great life I am living.

3.  Breath Empowerment - I learned this breath from a Chi Gong Workshop with Jeff Primack and I put my own spin on it for 15-20 minutes.  This breath work really moves the energy strongly through the body and into your power!

4.  Take a nap! - Sometimes, you just have to let go and return to Source during your sleep to reset your senses.  You gotta start letting go of the problems as you lay down and know that your Spirit knows what to do to help you get back to your center and "into your power."

I noticed that 3 out of 4 of these actions are really about getting a strong breath moving through you.  The breath is what moves energy to evoke change along with your focus.  The strong breath clears your mind or gets it focused on nothing or something other than your problems.

Easy, simple things that make a big difference to me!  They might work for you too, or inspire you to find what does work for you!  You're never hopeless!  You can do it!  You can let "it" go (your problems)!  You can let "it" in (your power and what you want)!

I also wanted to mention, that sometimes I just can't shift it in that moment.  And those are the times I get to really practice self acceptance and being OK with where I am.

"There's nothing more important than feeling good."  Abraham-Hicks.

YOU

Choose Yourself!

Choose Yourself! In every choice, ask yourself, "does this feel good to my being?" Answer truthfully really listening to how you feel and continue with the things that feel good, and stop doing what doesn't. When we all are choosing what we really want, then, we start living the life we have always wanted. Be selfish! Want to feel good more than anything else! It will serve you well! - Shalan

Freedom is an inner choice

FEEL LOVED!

Your Condition has a Vibrational Pattern

At the heart of every condition is a vibrational pattern—a rather minor tweaking of vibrational patterning (sort of like the hub of a wheel) can affect tremendously out there on the peripheral of this big wheel . . . A little bit of tweaking on the emotion can make big differences in the way the physical manifestation occurs.

Helping Others...

When you are feeling the discomfort from seeing other people in a lackful or needy situation, and you decide to help them from your place of discomfort, no lasting value ever occurs, for two important reasons: first, you are not in alignment with the Energy of your Source, and so you have no real value to give; and second, your attention to their need only amplifies their need.

Of course, it is a wonderful thing to help others, but you must do it from your position of strength and alignment, which means you must be in alignment with their success as you offer assistance, and not in alignment with their problem.

When your awareness of their situation makes you uncomfortable and you offer help to make them feel better and to make yourself feel better, you are not in the Vortex and you are not helping.

When you feel an inspired eagerness to offer something because you want to participate in their happy, successful process, your attention to their success harmonizes with the point of view of your Source; and the infinite resources of the Universe are at your disposal. And that does help.

Our sentiments, just said in a different way!

"Whenever you complain about something negative in your world, you reinforce your connection with that negativity. Your
complaint can actually focus your energy toward perpetuating
and empowering whatever you’re complaining about.
A much better strategy is to come up with a positive
alternative, and then to act on it. Instead of merely
reinforcing what is wrong, you have an opportunity to change
the situation for the better.
Complaints, because of their negative nature, are usually
met with some degree of defensiveness. Positive
alternatives, on the other hand, will naturally be met with
cooperation and appreciation.
The next time you have the urge to complain, stop and ask
yourself what it is you really want. Do you simply want to
complain or do you want to do something that will improve
the situation?
Somewhere within each complaint is a genuine desire to
improve the situation, but the complaint itself is never
enough to do that. So skip beyond the complaint and use your
efforts and resources to truly make a positive difference.
Make the choice not to aggravate a bad situation with your
complaints. Choose instead to transform it with your
positive thoughts, ideas and actions."
